The 10 or 15 minutes you think you’re gaining by setting your clock a few minutes fast may be holding you back.

Did you remember to change ALL your clocks back an hour when Daylight Saving Time (DST) ended on November, 7th?

Do you set your bedroom clock ahead so you can have a few extra minutes in the morning? Well, I hate to break it to you, but we all get the same 24 hours. By setting your clock ahead of time you may be keeping yourself stuck, as well as, setting yourself up for a lot of mental clutter: "oh, it says it's 6:40, but it's 15 minutes ahead so it's really only 6:25...so I have a few extra minutes....." Do you really think you are going to forget that you set your clock ahead 15 minutes?  Or that the clock is smarter than you?

If you want to have more time, then get organized. If you are ready for now to be the right time to start living the lifestyle you desire, then set your clocks to the correct time.

If I may, are you waiting for your miracle to happen? Are you still waiting to meet that someone special? Is it time to live the wonderful life you've been dreaming of? Is it time to attract more money, love and success?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then start by checking your clocks. When clocks are not set to the correct time or are not working properly they are sending the wrong message. You and your clocks are telling the universe "it’s not the right time." Yikes, not the right time!

If you are ready for now to be the time for your blessings to come forth then make sure all your clocks (yes, the car also) are set to the correct time. Now every time you look at your clocks, you will know without hesitation that NOW is the correct time for your miracles to begin!

TV or Not TV - in the bedroom? That is the question.

So what's all the hubbub about having a television in your bedroom and why is it considered to be "bad" feng shui? First of all, I do not subscribe to the "good feng shui and bad feng shui" theory. But, I do believe you can create more happiness and success in your life by following a few basic feng shui principles.

So here's why having a television in your bedroom is considered a feng shui no-no. A television creates "active" energy regardless of which room it is in. This active energy is similar to having a mirror in your room (we'll discuss mirrors in another post) but for the bedroom it brings too much activity - the activity of other people and events via television programs, many of which are reality shows; more people in your bedroom. Most television programs are not what I would call tranquil, serene, or calming, which is the best energy for your bedroom if you want to create happiness and prosperity in your life.

Unfortunately, this active energy does not give you energy - it zaps your energy! It demands your attention and is constantly saying to you "watch me, look at me" kind of like a two year old! With a television in your bedroom demanding your attention you're never alone and the television serves as a distraction from your life. If you do have a television in your bedroom my suggestion would be to have put it in cabinet or armoire so you can close it when you're not watching it. This will allow you to quiet the active energy. Like putting the two year old down for a nap.

I admit, there are times I think I would love having a television in our bedroom especially with the great prices on televisions nowadays. And for those cold, snowy days where you just want to hang out in bed all day and watch great movies or snuggle in bed with your sweetie watching your favorite shows. But, I know if we did have a television in our bedroom it would drive me crazy hearing the news channel or Ice Truckers as I am trying to fall asleep! Too much noise! Too much stress wondering if those guys and gal are going to slide their 18 wheeler off the icy roads into a near death experience! And then I would be cranky and annoyed with my sweetie for wanting to watch his favorite programs!

See how subtly of how having a television in your bedroom can cause strife and annoyance in your relationship? Maybe that's why it's considered best not to have a television in your bedroom. Truly, the bedroom is to be reserved for rest, intimacy and healing. It's your private sanctuary. That's all good stuff that puts a smile on your face :)

TV or No TV in the bedroom? That's a personal choice. You can do either and you can still have a great life. As for me, even though I look at the flat screens every time I go Costco and think.."ooh..that one would be nice in our bedroom," I realize, I really don't want to change the energy of our bedroom by allowing television celebrities in our bedroom. Plus, we already have four televisions in other areas of our home so there are plenty to watch elsewhere!

It’s the 4th quarter mark – Are you winning the race or are you behind?

With only 90 days left of 2010 on you on track to meet and or exceed your yearly goals? If not, it’s not too late to give one last kick in order to end the year celebrating your success!

What makes a great horse race? It’s watching with excitement, awe and passion as the horse who has been losing the race pulls himself together and really pours it on during the last quarter mile and one by one passes every horse in front of him and wins the race by a nose! WOW, now that’s a race worth watching!

You can finish the year a winner! If you’re behind in the race then make up your mind now that you are going to win or die trying! Give it your all! It takes heart and soul to win!

RUN BABY RUN!

Here are a few feng shui tips to help kick-start your energy just in time for the grand finale.

  • Find your horse. Your horse can be in a painting or sculpture. Place your horse on your desk, in your office, or on a wall where you will see it for the next 90 days.
  • Determine your goal. What race are you running? You know what your goal is, now go for it!
  • Create a single focus for the next 90 days. One major goal fueled by the power of your single focus will win you the race. You can do it!

Your Baby's Room

It's funny how most often the last room we consider decorating is our bedroom, which, as we all know by now, is the most important room of the home. But what about the baby's room? Luckily, we have several months while awaiting the arrival of our new baby to decorate and create the nursery. With joy and anticipation we spring into action - nesting - to create that special place where our newest family member will lay their little heads to sleep, be clothed in darling matching outfits, and be rocked in our arms until the wee hours of the night.

Pleasing Feng Shui Tips for Baby and You.

1. Avoid too many primary colors on walls. The bright colors can become too active and make it difficult for the baby to sleep peacefully. Instead, keep the colors soft and serene; baby colors. You can always repaint once your little one gets older.

2. Make sure all electrical outlets have covers on them.

3. Just like our bed, the baby's crib should be in the command position of the bedroom. If possible, the far corner from the door, out of the way of chi flow - meaning not directly in front of the door.

4. While the crib may look cute and centered underneath a window, this is considered an unstable position, as too much energy will flow in and around the window creating both an uncomfortable draft on your baby and a sense of vulnerability.

5. A family photo or one of you and your spouse is a wonderful way to gently add the energy of family and stability to your new baby's life.

6. If possible, do not let your nursery double as an office or storage space. This creates an identity crisis for the room and can be very unsettling for your baby.

7. People always ask about mobiles. I love them as they gently ride above the baby's crib like birds in the air. My suggestion, just don't place the mobile directly over the baby's head. Think about it, if you are resting on your back would you want something hanging right above your face? No, but down a few inches might be just fine.

8. Save the plants and candles for other areas of the home.

9. Purchase cute bins to keep baby clothes and toys organized. Remember, clutter creates chaos and confusion. A baby's room filled with toys strewn all over the floor can create chaos and a cranky baby.

10. As with us, the bed or crib in this case, is of utmost importance. Please check for safety and comfort. Soft sheets and blankies are a must!

11. One more thing, the diaper pail. I'm sorry but I give these portable dirty diaper holders a big thumbs down. Just a few soiled diapers and warm day and you have a room that reeks of poop and pee! Unfortunately, I have feng shuied many homes where there diaper pail is filled to the rim and the stench is lingering! Could you sleep with that smell next to your bed? But Harrah, there's so many diapers to change. Yes there are. Change the diaper and throw it away. As a mother of four, I can say it only takes a minute to toss the soiled diaper in the trash and both you and your baby will be so much happier.

To you and your baby!

Feng Shui Your Mouth of Chi

In feng shui, the 'mouth of chi' is the front door. This is the area of the home that welcomes new opportunities, new people and new social activities. Depending on where your front door is located according to the bagua map, you may be unknowingly infecting your career with stagnant chi.

Having been in hundreds of homes across the U.S., I can recall many of the front entryways and front doors that not only discouraged positive chi (energy) from entering, but also discouraged me from entering as well! Like the time I went to feng shui a house and as I walked upon the entryway to the front door, I was poked by several overgrown, bare rose bushes acting as little swords trying their best to keep me from getting to the front door. I received several little scratches on my legs which is not good feng shui!

Then there was the time where I was greeted with dozens of cobwebs completely surrounding the front door. When I knocked on the front door a bug or something gross fell on my hand! Yikes, I ran from the door. I'll save the 'inside' story for another post.

And, I giggle every time I think about the house that had a tiny little welcome mat the size of a place mat. In fact, now that I think about it - it may have been a place mat with room for only one foot, or two baby feet!

With that, here are a few suggestions for uplifting your 'mouth of chi' so you may bring a smile to all who enter. Remember, when you give your house some love it will give you prosperity and abundance in return.

  1. Sweep the front porch.
  2. Wash the front door and polish the hardware.
  3. Get a new welcome mat - a BIG one!
  4. Add a planter with colorful flowers.
  5. Hose off or sweep away any cobwebs around door.
  6. Dust off the entry light and make sure light bulbs are working.
  7. Please trim the prickly plants on the walkway.
  8. Remove clutter and garbage from front door area.
  9. Take down your holiday decorations! It's April for goodness sakes!
  10. Add a water feature such as a fountain to encourage cash flow and abundance.
